Live Fire Shoot House

Range Systems SMASH™ shoot house offers scenarios for promoting proficiency and operational readiness. We can customize floor plan layouts for single level to multi-level that include corner-fed rooms, center-fed rooms, “L” hallways, “Z” hallways, fully contained ballistic stairwells, exterior ballistic protection for external attack scenarios, observation catwalks, breach ports, and sliding ballistic doors and windows to create or eliminate alternate room entrance/exit points. SMASH provides an environment that replicates real-time and real-distance for urban operations training to include tactical movement, target engagement, breaching, and target discrimination.

Structural integrity and safety qualities are foremost in Range Systems shoot house designs. Our proprietary ballistic rubber wall construction encapsulates bullets to mitigate safety hazards of ricochet, splatter, and shoot-through and significantly reduces airborne lead.

The addition of sliding walls and ballistic door and window coverings to SMASH, allow training staff to reconfigure the layout by creating or eliminating alternate rooms and entrance/exit points. SMASH™ components are interchangeable and reconfigurable to provide multiple floor plans for realistic and changing urban operations training scenarios.

Multi-level facilities typically offer separate flights of staircases to navigate including encased, open, and landing. When the facility includes an enclosed top floor, the rooftop provides more training options including additional entry points, access to fixed roof ladders, and supports the integration of rappelling and tactical training into one facility.

Range Systems shoot houses are field-proven in the harshest environments

Whether a team must move up a multi-level stairwell or negotiate through a narrow corridor, the realistic live fire environment helps develop communication and movement skills while clearing and securing the facility.

The feature that sets Range Systems live-fire shoot houses apart from all others is the extraordinary ballistic capabilities, durability, and ease of maintenance our designs offer. Range Systems was chosen by the US Army Corps of Engineers and US Army Forces Command because of the superior performance and unique characteristics of our ballistic rubber encapsulating system. Our patented ballistic rubber virtually eliminates ricochet and bullet splatter and significantly reduces airborne lead particulates. This material has passed testing conducted by the US Army Picatinny Arsenal Armament Test Facility for ricochet and penetration against the military 5.56mm M855 Steel Core Penetrator round.

Range Systems shoot houses are field-proven in the harshest environments, from the sub-zero temperatures of Alaska to the intense heat of Iraq, our live fire shoot houses deliver extreme live fire performance with minimum maintenance.

Outdoor Ranges

Outdoor ranges present design standards and considerations that are different than the requirements of an indoor range. Every outdoor range is unique due to several factors including terrain, user protocols, the weapons and ammunition that will be used, and neighboring properties and air space. A full understanding of range design standards criteria and how they apply to your site is essential at the early planning stage.

Range Systems’ expertise in ballistic containment ensures the effectiveness and integrity of our full complement of bullet trap models. We consider the environmental and safety requirements of firing ranges in our design criteria to ensure our customers receive a bullet containment system that meets their specific need and situation. Choosing to install a commercial bullet trap also provides environmental benefits by preventing soil erosion at the impact area and mitigating potential lead migration. Our range experts will help you select a trap that best meets the criteria you establish for your range.

Everything You Need!

Live fire shoot house facility.

A fully contained range is designed to prevent direct-fired rounds and ricochets from leaving the limits of the range.

This type of range is used when the required minimum SDZ requirements are not available because of lack of land area or compatible land use. These ranges have a canopy shield over the firing points, overhead ballistic safety baffles, sidewalls, and a bullet backstop for containment. The fully contained range design must preclude the escape of direct-fired rounds and ricochets from leaving the limits of the range when fired from any shooting position in the range.

Range Systems products are tested internally as well validated through third parties to substantiate their ability to defeat specific rounds and weapons systems and conform to different environments, infrastructures, and operational procedures. The merits of structural integrity and range safety are evident in all our range installations and we welcome the opportunity to work with you to develop a training range solution that meets your expectations and requirements.
